Project: Automated Dolly Assembly Machine

ProDesign designed, built, and programmed a custom automated robotic assembly cell that fastens four casters onto dolly decks. Dolly decks are loaded by the operator and automatically fixtured by the machine.  After shuttling the deck into the workcell, casters are automatically placed. Bolts and nuts are bowl fed and fasteners are torqued into place with SCARA robot mounted torque guns.

Quality of fastening is monitored and in the event a bad torque is observed, the part is redirected through a reject stream out the back for re-work.

Loading can be done in parallel while the machine assembles parts which allows for optimized cycle times.
